Jalinan Digital Negara (JENDELA) will be the national digital communication enhancement platform under the 12th Malaysia Plan (2021–2025).
JENDELA will be implemented in phases:
Increased 4G coverage from 91.8% to 96.9%
Increased mobile broadband speed from 25 Mbps to 35 Mbps
83% premises nationwide will have access to gigabit speed of fixed broadband
3G Sunset, upgrade of 4G and fiberisation
During Phase 2, the adoption of 5G will begin after the 4G platform is strengthened in line with the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP), enhancing digital connectivity nationwide

What is JENDELA?
Jalinan Digital Negara or JENDELA is a comprehensive digital infrastructure plan aimed at addressing the arising needs and demand for better quality for fixed and mobile broadband coverage due to COVID-19 pandemic and the Movement Control Order. The JENDELA will support activities such as working remotely or work from home, operating businesses online, and students’ education as well as to stay in touch with families and friends.

What are the benefits of 3G sunsetting for the public?
The ultimate goal of 3G Sunset initiative is to repurpose the use of the spectrum for 4G and further enhance the quality of service to the public for a greater experience in internet browsing, video streaming and online services. In other words, we can notice improvement in many ways including:

Improved network reliability and stability

What is 3G Sunset?
3G Sunset refers to the shutting down of 3G network and discontinuation of all 3G related services, i.e. the voice, SMS and data services that are carried over the 3G network.
Why is the 3G network being shut down?
3G Sunset is one of the initiatives identified under the Jalinan Digital Negara (JENDELA) program that aims to migrate existing spectrum to 4G technology, to further improve wireless broadband speeds for all Malaysian.
Is Tune Talk the only service provider affected by 3G Sunset or is it affecting other service providers in Malaysia as well?
No, all service providers will be shutting down their 3G networks by the end of 2021.
When is the 3G network shut down happening?
The 3G network will be shut down in phases throughout 2021 and it is targeted to be completed by 31st December 2021. At the same time, the 4G network will be improved and expanded to provide wider coverage and higher data speeds.
Will the 2G network also be shut down?
There are no plans to shut down the 2G network and 2G services such as voice and SMS will be available as usual.
How will the 3G Network Sunset affect you as a mobile consumer?
How do I know if I am a 3G network user?
If you’re using a 3G device or if your phone seems only capable of latching onto the 3G network despite using a 4G device. You can also refer to the network indicator icon on your phone. If it indicates 3G most of the time, then you may be a heavy user of the 3G network.
What will I experience if I fail to prepare for the 3G Network Sunset by upgrading to a 4G SIM card and 4G device?
You will not be able to enjoy the best network experience and higher data speeds on our 4G network and your voice and data services might be disrupted.
Why am I always latched on to the 3G network when I am already using a 4G device?
This could be due to currently weak 4G coverage in your area. Don’t worry, your area should be covered under the JENDELA program intended to improve nationwide mobile coverage.
Am I required to change my current SIM Card?
If you are currently using a 4G device but can only access 3G network wherever you go, then it is very likely you are using an older SIM card. Please walk-in to the nearest Tune Talk Dealer to upgrade to a 4G SIM card. SIM card change request can also be done via website : https://www.tunetalk.com/my/en/switch/upgrade4g
How is Tune Talk helping me to make the switch to 4G? Will there be any special offers on 4G devices or plans?
Whether you are using a 3G device and/or currently using an older SIM card, we will notify you through SMS to upgrade your SIM card and/or to upgrade your device with our special device bundle offerings.
How is Tune Talk going to inform me of the exact time of the 3G shutdown in my area?
3G Sunset is scheduled for implementation by phases across Malaysia throughout 2021. We will notify you via SMS on the upcoming 3G shutdown schedule should your area be impacted
When will 3G Sunset be fully completed?
3G Sunset will be done by phases across Malaysia and will be completed by the end of 2021.
What will happen to me if I choose not to upgrade my device or upgrade my SIM card? Will I be able to continue using 2G?
Yes, you can continue to enjoy 2G services such as voice and SMS. However, your data experience will be significantly affected.

If I decide to not upgrade or switch to 4G upon 3G Sunset, what will happen to my current contract/plan?
Your current contract and plan will remain the same. However, you will experience a drop in the quality of data service as you will only be able to use services on the 2G network.
Will there be any service disruption during 3G Sunset?
3G Sunset will be seamless for all customers as long as your device and SIM card are 4G capable.
What will I experience once I’ve switched to a 4G device with 4G network, as compared to 3G network?
Once you’ve switched to our 4G network with a 4G device, you will enjoy better network coverage and higher data speeds.
