Pilgrims can now stay connected during Hajj and Umrah at no additional cost
Staying connected overseas should not have to mean navigating roaming passes or worrying about additional charges. For Malaysians embarking on their pilgrimage, Tune Talk has taken those barriers away by enabling eligible subscribers to use their existing data allocation while abroad and offering complimentary E-Roaming in Saudi Arabia. Effective 1 August, eligible subscribers can enjoy this benefit when travelling to Saudi Arabia for Hajj or Umrah.
For many Malaysians, performing Hajj or Umrah is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Being able to stay in touch with family back home to share the experience, seek reassurance, or simply hear a loved one’s voice can bring comfort and peace of mind during an emotionally profound time. Being connected the moment they land also means pilgrims can navigate unfamiliar surroundings, access transport, and coordinate with their travel group without delay.
According to industry estimates and prevailing market rates, Malaysian pilgrims typically spend around RM89 to RM180 a month on mobile roaming services during Umrah and Hajj, underscoring the growing need for affordable international connectivity.
This is how Tune Talk’s E-Roaming removes the usual barriers to staying connected abroad. The service activates automatically upon arrival in Saudi Arabia. No separate roaming passes, no activation codes, no additional steps.
The initiative is also an example of Tune Talk’s evolution as a digital-first mobile operator, where technology is being used not simply to offer more products and features, but to remove friction from the customer experience. From digital account management through the Tune Talk mobile app to seamless E-Roaming overseas, Tune Talk is building mobile experiences around how customers live, travel and communicate.
That simplicity can provide an additional layer of reassurance during a journey where their attention should be on the experience itself rather than managing their mobile connection.
Supporting the Community
Malaysia sends approximately 300,000 pilgrims for Umrah annually, alongside 31,600 more for Hajj. Recognising the scale and cultural importance of this annual migration, Tune Talk views this initiative as a meaningful way to support its users.
“As a homegrown brand, we understand the profound significance of the Hajj and Umrah to Malaysians,” said Gurtaj Singh Padda, Co-Founder and CEO of Tune Talk. “We believe that during such a pivotal life event, seamless connectivity should be a given, not a luxury or a logistical hurdle. This initiative is our way of giving back to the community and taking the worry out of mobile bills so our subscribers can focus entirely on their spiritual fulfilment.”
